Advancing Drought Preparedness Legislation Through Congress
March 28, 2024
From the Office of Joe Neguse:
| We are a little over a month into the second legislative session of the 118th Congress, and our priority to put people over politics remains steadfast. Advancing Drought Preparedness Legislation Through Congress As Co-Chair of the Colorado River Caucus and the proud representative for the headwaters of the Colorado River – located in our very own Rocky Mountain National Park – I am committed to protecting this critical water lifeline. And this week, I was proud to have my bill, the Bipartisan Drought Preparedness Act, pass swiftly and unanimously through the House of Representatives. The Drought Preparedness Act will help provide Colorado with every tool possible to mitigate the impacts of the crisis facing the Colorado River. It will also work to minimize drought damages and losses and improve water availability for those harmed by water shortages in the West. Our office will continue to fight to ensure that key drought relief initiatives have the support needed to relieve Coloradans and folks across the Rocky Mountain West. |

To help communities and water users protect their water supply after natural disasters, I was proud to join lawmakers from Colorado and Utah in introducing the bipartisan Watershed Protection and Forest Recovery Act. Our bill helps ensure that essential federal resources are available to help communities manage watershed risks following devastating wildfires. Keep reading to learn more about our recent work! |
