Grand County Dems speak out about President Joe Biden’s decision to step down from consideration as the nominee for President of the United States.

Grand County Dems commend President Joe Biden on his decision to pass the torch to a new generation. It is the selfless act of a true patriot who has always put his country before himself. Biden’s many accomplishments over five decades of public service are too vast to list here, but we will remember him for the bipartisan infrastructure bill, designating Camp Hale as a national monument, and fighting for democracy at home and abroad. We will miss him greatly.

We’re also excited for a younger generation of leadership to bring new solutions and fresh perspective to our nation’s politics. In choosing Kamala Harris as his running mate four years ago, the President picked a tough former prosecutor. She’s met with over 150 world leaders and traveled to 20 countries in her 3.5 years as VP. And she has been the administration’s top advocate regarding a woman’s right to choose.

Harris’ first public comments on Sunday were that she intends to earn the nomination. The enthusiasm we’re hearing from Democrats here at home indicates folks at the grassroots level where we work think she’s the strongest candidate. Grand County Dems have been considering a formal endorsement, but will not make one without a vote by our central committee. Please reach out through our website, Facebook, email, Instagram, or through your neighborhood precinct organizer if you would like to share your thoughts.
