The prosecution and the defense screened and approved all of the jurors before the trial. The jurors heard the arguments and evidence, and rendered a verdict of guilty. The legal system worked, and this trial proved that in America, no one is above the law. Not even a former, twice impeached president. Our forefathers fought a war against England in 1776 to break away from the monarchy, where every king or queen was above the law. One of the foundational tenets of democracy is that the law is greater than all of us. This jury in New York proved that. Every politician is a public servant, and should be held to the highest legal standard. If they are corrupt and break the law, they should be punished just like the rest of us.
